K12.Photos
Privacy & consent
Here is the honest version, in plain language. Student photos are never sold. Face templates are kept only inside our own private system and deleted when you withdraw permission or when the retention window ends. Facial recognition is off by default, and a photo is sellable only when permission allows.
What we commit to
The truth, plainly stated
We would rather tell you exactly what we do than make a promise we cannot keep. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will answer plainly.
Never sold
Student photos and data are never sold to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party. A photo is sellable only when permission allows it, and is used only for the school’s own photography program and for what each family has expressly permitted.
Face match is off by default
Facial recognition is off by default. If you opt in so we can help find your student’s photos, we create a secure face template for your student and keep it only inside our own private system — never an outside company. We keep that template no longer than your school’s face-data retention window — 365 days by default — and a nightly process deletes it when that window ends. We also delete it the moment you withdraw permission, whichever comes first.
Sold only with permission
A photo is sellable only when permission allows it. You decide whether your student’s pictures can be offered for sale, and you can change your mind.
Held only as long as needed
We keep photos to do the work you asked for — picture day, ordering, and the yearbook — and dispose of what is no longer needed on a set schedule. Ask us and we will tell you plainly what we hold.
